How to Renew a Nigerian Passport in China

Living in China as a Nigerian citizen requires keeping your passport up-to-date especially if you need to make an impromptu trip outside the country. Luckily, renewing your Nigerian passport in China is a straightforward process - even more than the other countries we’ve covered in our blog

This guide will walk you through the steps of renewing your passport as a Nigerian living in China, by providing accurate information based on official government websites.

Eligibility Criteria for a New Nigerian Passport in China

Nigerian passports aren’t renewed but reissued, you’ll have to apply for a new passport even if the old one is still valid. To successfully do this in China, you need to;

  • Have a Nigerian passport that has either expired or is expiring soon.
  • Be a Nigerian citizen residing in China with proof of residency.

Also, you have to apply in person either at the Nigerian Embassy in Beijing or the Nigerian Consulate in Shanghai. The embassy in Beijing covers all of North China while the Shanghai Consulate covers South and East China. So you’ll have to choose the one closest to you for easier processing.
